"Making sure that the words you use accurately reflect
what you really think and feel, and not acting out your
emotions and judgments, but rather communicating them
with words, in a dignified manner, as best you can."
Tony and Cristi
are counselors who have worked with hundreds of couples for
over a decade. Besides running workshops for couples, they many
times work as a couple counseling other couples in their private
practice. They love being a couple and have had to do a lot
of work to develop a healthy, committed, responsible relationship.
Tony has his Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and has
studied informally in Greece and India. He has worked as a counselor
for thirty years in many different settings, but primarily in
private practice. His interests include philosophy, language,
and cross cultural studies.
Cristi received her Master's in Art. Her artwork portrays the
Rites of Passage that we move through in our lives individually
and collectively to come closer to the nature of who we really
are. In her work with individuals and couples, she sees counseling
as an art form, which is service that emanates form the heart.
They clearly see the opportunity and value of doing the work
of being a couple.
As their professional work together matured,
they began to see the similarities of the issues that couples
needed help with, and how these issues arose spontaneously
simply due to the fact that these two unique individuals were
together... consequently, they developed a program of understanding
and communication techniques that works for most couples and
then decided to put it into book form so it could reach out
to many, many more couples.
"We believe that the primary relationship is a great
natural phenomenon, the backbone of the family, and that learning
to be skilled workers dealing with the relational issues that
arise by being together is richly rewarding for both partners."
With this positive outlook, Tony and Cristi greatly enjoy
working with other couples and sharing their understanding.
